A large crowd has converged on the Issoufou Joseph Conombo Municipal Stadium in Ouagadougou, the capital city of the West African country of Burkina Faso, Monday November 25, 2019. The gathering was support for the country’s defense and security forces fighting against terrorism in the country.

A member of the organizing committee of this event confirmed to National Telegraph at a press briefing on 23 November, held in the capital funds were exclusive for the defense and security forces. A total of 114M FCFA, approximately some $192,242 was raised by the participants.

National Telegraph has learned from the president of the organizing committee, Emmanuel Kaboré, that this sum will help for the purchase of three (3) Pickup vehicles, sixty (60) motorcycles and two hundred (200) tons of food to the army as a contribution to the fight against terrorism.

National Telegraph also learned that out of the 20 million left of this total amount, 15 million FCFA ($ 25,295) was paid to the Treasury on behalf of the military and 5 million FCFA ($8431) in a Judicial Support Fund to enable the poor to take legal action and pay lawyers. The organizing committee has also announced further financial contributions to come on behalf of the military.

Terrorist attacks are becoming repetitive in Burkina Faso.  At least eighteen (18) members of a terrorist group were killed, Wednesday November 20, 2019, in Arbinda, a town and the capital of the Arbinda Department of Soum Province in Northern Burkina Faso. Many other such confrontations abound.
