122 Die In Burkina Faso Attacks, President Declares National Mourning.

At least one hundred and twenty-two (122) persons have died from a double attack in the West African country of Burkina Faso. Burkinabè Army said in a press release, Tuesday December 24, 2019, it has killed eight (80) terrorists.

General Moïse Minoungou, Chief of Staff of the country’s Defense and Security Forces said the 80 terrorists were neutralized during an attack by the latter on a military detachment and the populations of Arbinda, Soum Province in Northern Burkina Faso. 

The army of Burkina Faso also announced that the military detachment is composed of land forces and the gendarmerie, adding it seized a hundred motorcycles, armaments and ammunition in large quantities.

At least 35 civilians, mostly women were killed, the President, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré said, while declaring two days of National Mourning. Dozens of jihadists on motorbikes carried the raid early Tuesday and it lasted several hours before armed forces with the aid of the air force forced the jihadists to recoil, military sources have said. 

According to the statement, a copy of which National Telegraph has obtained, four (4) soldiers and three (3) gendarmes were also killed during the response launched by the military detachment, bringing the total deaths to 122. On December 3, 20 terrorists were also killed in the localities of Toeni and Bahn, in the North of the country.
