A three-year-old has died in a Cameroonian hospital after a medical error from a student nurse. The incident took place at the Loum District Hospital in the Moungo Division of Cameroon’s Littoral region, National Telegraph can confirm.
The child died, last night February 27, 2020, as a result of a medical error, multiple sources told National Telegraph, describing the incident as sad and unprecedented.
According to the granny of the child, the student nurse injected a product into the child in the wrong position which caused the child to die immediately the product got into its body.
After a quarrel between the deceased’s family and the hospital management in the absence of the student nurse, an investigation has been opened by the Police Commissioner in Loum.
The corpse of the child was also handed to the family last night, while the student nurse remains at large, family sources say.
Hospital officials are yet to react on the matter, but there is hope the results of the investigation will ascertain what actually happened.
