Burkina Faso : Attack On Canadian Mining Company Convoy Kills 30.

At least 30 persons were killed, Wednesday November 6, 2019, after an explosive hit a convoy belonging to a mining company; Mining Exploration Society In West Africa – SEMAFO, a statement from the company has said. 

The convoy accompanied by a military escort, included 5 buses carrying Burkinabe employees, contractors and suppliers, National Telegraph has been told.

According to some sources, there are also many wounded and missing. The terrorist attack occurred on the road between Fada and the Boungou mine site in the Eastern region of Burkina Faso.

In the statement, the mining company said the Boungou mine site remains safe, adding its operations have not been affected: “We work actively with all concerned authorities to ensure the health and safety of our employees, contractors and suppliers”, parts of the statement said.

SEMAFO Inc. is a Canadian-based mining company with gold production and exploration activities in West Africa. The Company operates two mines, the Boungou and Mana mines in Burkina Faso. It’s however headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
