Burkinabè Minister of Territorial Administration, announced Wednesday, February 5, 2020, that legislative and municipal elections are fixed for November 22, 2020.
Siméon Sawadogo made the announcement at the end of a meeting of Ministers held at the presidential palace of Kossyam in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s capital, National Telegraph can confirm.
National Telegraph has also learned from Minister SSiméon Sawadogo that until this date, the Independent Electoral Commission will prepare the electoral lists and work on the operationalization of the various polls.
Siméon Sawadogo said that the electoral lists which will be drawn up will count not only for the presidential and legislative elections but also for the municipal election which will take place thereafter.
During a press briefing on November 28, 2019, Siméon Sawadogo, reassured the Burkinabè of respecting the electoral calendar, at a time when the government was accused by opposition leaders of using the pretext of the terrorist threat to postpone the elections.
