Cameroon Ex-Defense Minister Implicated In MagForce Deal, In Court February 12!

Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o – Ex-Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense.

Cameroon’s former Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o is awaited Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital, National Telegraph is told.

The former Minister’s wife, Bernadette Mebe Ngo’o, an Army Colonel, Mboutou Joël, as well as Maxime Mbangue, a Treasury chief are also expected at the same venue to answer charges of corruption.

They have been accused of embezzlement of public funds in line with transactions in the purchasing of military material from a French company named MagForce. The amount of money embezzled is still unknown, National Telegraph has learned.

According to orders, all persons quoted were since January 31, 2019, prohibited by the police from leaving the country according to a police decision leaked on social media that National Telegraph has obtained.

The former boss of National Security, also known as the adopted son of Paul Biya, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o was appointed Minister Delegate at the Presidency of Cameroon in charge of Defense on June 30, 2009, then moved on October 2, 2015, from Defense to the Ministry of Transports.

As far as Colonel Mboutou is concerned, he was in charge of military affairs at the Cameroon Embassy in Morocco when on April 2016, he was arrested in Paris by French police with a huge amount of money and extradited to Cameroon few weeks after he had been appointed Commander of the 3rd Military Section in Garoua.

Regarding Maxime Mbangue, he was in charge of the Treasury at the time when Mebe Ngo’o was Minister of Defense, National Telegraph has gathered. The possibility of the accused coming out of the court free is slim, a source has opined.

Most of President Paul Biya’s former confidants summoned in the past in this similar manner have always been remanded to any of the country’s hig-security detention facility. Most of them have decried the President’s action dubbing it politically motivated.

  1. The arrest and detention of his former ministers island hoax. Boys is just trying to show the international community that he is against corruption.
What a way of playing ostrich; head buried in the sand and bottom exposed. What a shame !
