By Ken Neba, Yaounde, Cameroon – Thursday November 7, 2019.

Parts of Rati’s corpse after he was shot dead for attempting to steal in a shop in Kumba.

A man popularly known as Rati, has been shot dead, early Thursday November 7, 2019, on the streets of Kumba, a town in Cameroon’s South West Region, National Telegraph has been told.

According to reports, he was shot dead after attempting to rob a businessman beside Anglican Church at the Makata Street area of the city.

In Rati’s first attempt to steal from the said businessman, he failed and promised to return, locals told National Telegraph.

Eyewitnesses say threats from Rati to burn down the man’s house made the businessman to escape, adding that when both met this morning, after a bitter quarrel,  the military appeared on the scene and shot him dead.

His red AG bike was seized, another source said. The population of Anglican Street identified Rati as a terror in the quarter noted for several atrocities.

Others say he sometimes pretends to be a separatist fighter and attacks the population of Kumba.
