T he Cameroon military has attacked another health care facility after many others have been attacked, including torching that in Kumba, a restive town in Cameroon’s South West Region, locals have told National Telegraph.
In their most recent contingent attacks, the Afab Integrated Health Centre in Eyumojock Sub-Divsion, Manyu Division of Cameroon’s South West Region has been significantly vandalized, said a source in the area.
According to our source, the entire health facility especially; the Labour Room, Maternity, Pre-natal Clinic, Minor Dressing Room, Pharmacy, offices were brutally attacked and ramshackle by elements of the Cameroon Military, Friday March 21, 2019.
Several other houses were broken into and money and valuables stolen by the soldiers in the pretext that they were looking for Ambazonian fighters after a confrontation, Wednesday that left some soldiers dead.
This attack adds to a long list of health facility previously attacked by the Cameroon military according to reports from locals and runaway health workers.
Eyewitnesses had confirmed soldiers loyal to Paul Biya, 86, Cameroon’s President since 1982 attacked a Baptist Health Center in Bangolan, a restive town in Ngoketunjia, a division in Cameroon’s beleaguered North West Region.
According to eyewitnesses, soldiers stormed the hospital at about 10 PM, Wednesday, February 13, 2019, fired several shots, destroying some valuables, causing great trauma to patients and health care personnel.
The Cameroon military was just recently accused of torching the Kumba District Hospital an infirmary in Kumba, a war-torn town in Cameroon’s restive South West Region, in which four persons were burnt alive including vehicles.
According to sources, a group of soldiers stormed the Hospital at about 1 AM Monday, February 11, 2019, and torched most structures within the Hospital. National Telegraph gathered that the Theater, Female Surgical, Nurses’ Quarters and other areas within the Hospital have been burnt down.
Others have noted that the military had burnt down another hospital in Konye, a not-too-far restive town from Kumba. Some patients were also burnt alive in the Konye incident, they told National Telegraph.
A native from Bafut, a town in North West Cameroon said on a Live Facebook Show, that the military also attacked the hospital in his homeland of Bafut and killed at least one person.
There have been reports of soldiers shooting and killing even medical personnel. The military has committed grievous Human Rights abuses on a Health Workers, locals have told National Telegraph. Just recently, a nurse was intercepted by elements of the Cameroon Military, identified as a nurse, shot, attached to a bomb before he was detonated.
Ngamsha Gilbert Saber was on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, while going to his duty post at Oku, a village in the North West Region, detonated at Tadu, a village in Kumbo Sub-Division, in Cameroon’s Bui Division, North West Region.
A Nigerian Medical Doctor, Samuel Njimogu, a Dentist resident in same Kumba, was shot and killed by elements of the Cameroon military. Dr. Njimogu was brutally murdered, Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Ediki, a warring town close to Kumba still in the country’s South West, family sources told National Telegraph.
The military has continued uninterruptedly in contravening any warfare condition, killing medics, women, and children, physically challenged persons as well as Religious. The military has killed many healthcare workers including priests and missionaries from America, Ghana, and Kenya.
