A military court in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé has given interdicts to at least five media organs including BBC, Equinoxe and Radio France Internationale (RFI), Thursday, February 7, 2019, Francis Ajumane, a Journalist at the venue said.

As at now, I am still outside with about a dozen journalists trying to negotiate our way in though the military officers are working “on instructions”, the Journalist went on.
Reports say only pro-Biya media organs have been authorized to cover today’s session amongst them; CRTV, L’Epervier and some many other pro-regime media organs who before were not regular in court. Media organs like Equinoxe, RFI, BBC are personae non gratae, our source noted.
The media organs are said to have turned out to cover a crucial case of international bearing pitting the State of Cameroon and leaders of Anglophone Pro-independence Movement who were arrested in Nigeria and extradited to Cameroon since Friday, January 5, 2018, before they were barred.
Representatives of European Union would also today Thursday, February 7, 2019, be present at a military tribunal in Cameroon’s capital Yaoundé for a hearing on ten Anglophone Pro-independence leaders as National Telegraph has been told. In the meantime, proscribing the press might just be another height of Cameroon’s stupidity, a source said.
Lawyers and many others have reportedly intervened but the military is reportedly working on strict instructions from the state. Cameroon is amongst the countries with the poorest press freedom.
