The Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, the seat of the Catholic Church in Cameroon’s capital Yaounde that serves as the Cathedral of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Yaoundé known in French as Cathédrale Notre Dame de Victoire would receive the corpse of erstwhile Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako, National Telegraph has been told.
Zang III, former SDO for Fako, a Division in Cameroon’s South West Region with headquarters in Buea who was notorious for what many dubbed Land-grabbing died, Friday March 29, 2019 after an illness and was preserved at the morgue of the Yaounde General Hospital, said a source.
According to an official funeral bulletin, a copy of which National Telegraph has obtained, on Thursday May 2, 2019, they would be a vigil at his residence beginning 7 PM GMT. Going forward, on Friday May 3, 2019 at 11 AM, the corpse would be removed from the Yaoundé General Hospital, proceeded by a funeral mass at Cathedrale Notre Dame de Victoire in Yaoundé.
The programme also indicates that the corpse would then be ferried to his hometown of Ngoulemakong in Cameroon’s South Region from 3 PM. Sources have told National Telegraph Zang III would later be buried on Saturday May 4, 2019 after various traditional rites and a mass.
Zang III, born on June 5, 1956, according to information made available to National Telegraph, worked from 1986 through 2019 when he started in 1986 as the Deputy Director of CEFAM in Buea, served as Senior Divisional Officer for Nde, Mefou $ Akono, Benoue and then Fako. He also worked as Secretary General at the Governor offices in the East and Adamawa provinces at the time.
He was also Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Communication, among others. Until his death, it’s worth noting that after Zang’s retirement as SDO for Fako, he was made Director of Electrons Operations and Referendum and ended up as Technical Adviser number one at ELECAM, the country’s elections body.
