A man in his late thirties (30s) has died from an accident that occurred after a four-storey building collapsed and killed him on-the-spot in Douala, capital of the Littoral Region of the Central African country of Cameroon, National Telegraph has confirmed.
The building was still under construction when it collapsed, Thursday July 18, 2019, sources have said, adding that Talla Teton Brice, the victim was supervising construction works on the site.
On-the-ground reports say the building is Talla’s family compound situated at Carrefour Roger Milla a popular area at the Ngangue neighbourhood in Douala.
The Divisional Officer who’s the administrative head of Douala II, the district where the incident occurred was also at the scene. Reports say
Dr Didier Bidja led his retinue to take stock of the incident.
A group of first respondents who were at the scene tried to save his life but he died at the site, a source said, adding that the corpse has been preserved at a morgue in New Bell, a precinct in Douala.
A team of rescuers are still digging through the debris in search of any other person trapped in bricks.
