The Mayor of Buea, a city in Cameroon’s unruly South West Region has just returned from an uneasy Night Club outing in Yaoundé before holding a meeting with staff of his council, National Telegraph has been told.
Mayor Ekeme Patrick was spotted inside Sanza, a night club in the Cameroonian capital of Yaoundé late Saturday, February 16, 2019, a National Telegraph’s secret stringer said.
Another source opined that he was shocked to see the Mayor enjoying though with uneasiness while hundreds are being killed daily by the Cameroon military in his Municipality and environs.
Mayor Ekema is loathed by most, if not all of the populations of the North West and South West Regions where an armed conflict is rocking almost all the precincts.
Anglophone militias have been fighting pro-government soldiers to secure what they call the Restoration of the statehood of former British Southern Cameroons now called Ambazonia.
The Mayor is wanted by Pro-Independence fighters after they accused him of being a regime loyalist. Mayor Ekema is often seen carrying out moves to frustrate the plans of the Pro-Independence fighters.
National Telegraph has been informed by some council workers that the Mayor summoned a meeting to plan and implement major strategies against Ghost Towns, Lockdowns often imposed by Anglophone militias.
A staff hinted National Telegraph the meeting that held Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the council’s conference hall was aimed at asking council workers to pledge full collaboration to the Mayor.
Our source noted that the over three-hour-long meeting wrapped up with some workers thanking the Municipal boss and his team for matching words with action, ensuring workers are promoted and reclassified with the council.
In the meantime, the Mayor has been declared persona non grata by Anglophone militias and this has scared him as he is often seen going about town with tight security.
Even at the Sanza Night Club in Yaoundé, the Mayor who was spotted in White Shirt over Black Trousers dancing at about 1 AM early Sunday, February 17, 2019, still had security but disappeared in thin air after he suspected some Ambazonians were in the club, our source noted.
