Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer, David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido has been affected by the novel Coronavirus that has so far shut down the world.
The singer announced on his official Instagram page on Friday, March 27, 2020, he has been placed on self-isolation after his fiancé, Chioma Rowland tested positive for COVID-19.
Davido said he just returned from America after postponing a planned tour while the same statement adds that his fiancé and child also returned from London.
“I came back recently from America after postponing my tour. My fiancé Chioma also came back from London recently with our baby,” Davido said.
The artist continued that considering their travel histories and despite no symptoms, they all decided to go for the test on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
“We had no symptoms and still both feel perfectly fine but because of our recent travel history, we decided to take ourselves and our all close associates we’ve come in recent contact with for the COVID-19 test on the 25th of March,” he said.
Davido’s fiancé tested positive for the virus. Thirty-one (31) other close associates who were part of the travel tested negative including their baby. The artist and family are however doing “perfectly fine”.
Chioma is yet to show any symptoms and now being quarantined, according to Davido’s statement that also indicates he has gone into full self-isolation for the minimum 14 days.
The artist thanked all and sundry for goodwill prayers. “I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your endless love and prayers in advance and to urge everyone to please stay at home as we control the spread of this virus! Together we can beat this!”
Nigeria according to reports late Friday, March 27, 2020, had seventy (70) confirmed cases of COVID-19 with one death. Three have also been discharged from the hospital, the same report says.
