French Cameroon Chiefs Crown Buea Mayor, But Others Say They’re Promoting Genocide.

By Beltha Mokube – Sunday July 28, 2019.

Mayor Ekema Patrick Esunge of Buea receives the Nyamoto Kpwatolo title from some French Cameroon chiefs.

The Mayor of Buea, a council in Cameroon’s restive South West Region has been crowned by a group of traditional rulers from the country’s French-speaking region, National Telegraph has been told.

Local news outlets, including Municipal Updates confirmed that Mayor Ekema Patrick Esunge of Buea was elevated by Traditional rulers of the Bulu/Fang Beti clan in the South Region of Cameroon to a traditional title of “Nyamoto Kpwatolo” or “The Great Warrior”.

The event reports say took place on Saturday July 27, 2019, at Mbone Nkok village. Additional reports confirm it was officiated by the President of the South Chiefs’ Conference, HRH Effa Rene Desire with the Secretary General of the South Governor’s Office, Alexander Le Grande adding administrative blessings.

Many have however described the move as an action sponsored by the Cameroon government to motivate the Mayor who has been very instrumental in the fight against the Restoration of the Statehood of the former British Southern Cameroons.

Others say it’s meant to promote the killings of many more in the Mayor’s region. Mayor Ekema is among the few Anglophone elite who back and defend the Biya Regime considered by many to have brutally stuttered thousands of English-speaking Cameroonians legitimately asking for their right to self-determination.

Cameroon’s two English-speaking regions are engulfed in a deadly armed conflict and several groups including elements of the armed forces and mobile police have been accused of kidnapping and targeting innocent civilians, including their goods and chattels, sources say.

Mayor Ekema has done everything to frustrate all efforts at self-determination including breaking into shops of those respecting Ghost Town, a weekly civil strike observe every Monday during which businesses are down and transportation paralyzed.

Insecurity has greatly increased in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon with Anglophone armed groups fighting for the Restoration of the statehood of Ambazonia, a self-declared independent country the rebels are trying to establish in the Cameroon’s North West and South West Regions.

The unrest in the two English-speaking regions since October 2016 that has turned into an armed conflict with a demand by majority of Anglophones in the North West and South West for a separate state called Ambazonia.
