Gambia’s most anticipated fashion event is set to make waves at this year’s annual Fashion Weekend Gambia (FWG) Show, National Telegraph has confirmed.
The event will feature designers, some of whom are Gambians and others International. Running under the theme ‘Afro Revolution’, the event will run from December 6 through 7 at the Coral Beach Hotel formerly Sheraton.
The Team has discussed plans and surprises for this upcoming fashion night and urges its audience to expect the unexpected.
“We have a few surprises in store this year to entice our audience. We’re still committed to our mission of promoting home-grown talent and this year we’ve opened our doors to a hand-picked selection of new and emerging Designers and Models who are poised to take the industry by storm.” organizers have noted.
“The FWG Team is more dedicated than ever to push creativity and entrepreneurship through Fashion and will therefore continue to work hard, ensuring our designers have access to this platform in order to showcase, promote and sell beautifully crafted fashion designs that are distinctly Gambian, to a worldwide audience.”, it added.
The FWG team also introduced Fatou Sanneh as the brand ambassador and face of Fashion Weekend Gambia 8th Edition. “Runway Gambian born and bred model Fatou, not only has a dynamic and highly engaging personality, she also encapsulates FWG’s brand ethos, blending her beauty with intelligence, cultural pride, go-getting attitude and her unmatched work ethic.
She captures what we hope Gambian Youths embrace and what we, as a brand impress upon our youth ambassadors and beneficiaries. To top all of this off, she is a passionate advocate for natural hair, skin and takes laudable pride in her African heritage” the team noted of it Brand Ambassador.
Business Development Strategist for FWG, Soma Njie also talked about the idea behind this year’s theme and the growth of the Gambian fashion Industry.
“This year marks our 8th edition and be well assured – we’re not resting on our laurels. We look to capitalize on the success and famously soulful vibe of last year’s FWG marketplace – this year we envision that it will grow to be as popular as our main showcase, so we promise to up the ante for even more positive reactions from our stall holders and audience.”
