Ghanaian Electoral Commission Officer, Driver Die In Crash

A Ghanaian Electoral Commission Officer, his driver including a police escort have driven into a disabled vehicle, Friday, December 6, 2019, National Telegraph has confirmed.

The Bole District Electoral Commission (EC) Officer, Alhassan Yussif Ayuba, and his driver Basiru Kojo were killed in the crash. Alhassan was former assistant Head of Communications at the Electoral Commission in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

Reports say the incident occurred on the Kintampo Tamale Highwayafter the official pick-up for the Electoral Commission collided with a stationed van on the highway. 

From the information gathered, the moving pick-up was returning from carrying election inputs for the upcoming National District Assembly Election which will take place on December 17, 2019, when the incident happened.

Three people were in the moving car; the Electoral Commission Officer, his driver, and a Police officer. The officer is still alive and being treated at the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region.
