As presidential election approaches, the People’s Movement for Progress (MPP), party of Burkina Faso’s President, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, is reportedly facing a cascade of resignation.
National Telegraph has been told that the last case of defection is Jean-Baptiste Philippe Ouédraogo, born 30 June, 1942, also referred to by his initials JBO.
JBO is a Burkinabé physician and retired military officer who served as President of Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) from 8 November 1982 to 4 August 1983.
Jean-Baptiste Philippe Ouédraogo, reports say has sent his letter of resignation dated Monday November 4, 2019 to the political bureau of the MPP, citing bad governance of the party.
“I did resign for the reasons I clearly mentioned in my letter … As a courtesy, I took the trouble to meet first the acting president of the party to explain to him in the details, the reasons for my decision. That is after that I went to deposit the letter of resignation at the seat of the party “, he wrote.
The resignation of JBO comes after that of Pr Dieudonné Ouédraogo on October 26, 2019. Head of Rheumatology Department at Yalgado Ouedraogo Hospital in the capital Ouagadougou, Pr Dieudonné Ouedraogo is the one who wrote the health component of the political program of Roch Marc Christian Kaboré during the 2015 presidential election.
National Telegraph was told by insiders of the political bureau of MPP, of which Dieudonné Ouedraogo was a member, that his resignation comes because he is very outraged that some other persons were preferred than him to develop the health policy of the President.
National Telegraph has been informed by very reliables sources within the ruling party that only in the month of October, many MPP’s supporters have resigned, though a specific number of hasn’t been given.
