A man who was caught in Douala, the capital city of Cameroon’s Littoral Region attempting to break into a business place, Wednesday, January 15, 2020, has been beaten to death.
Inhabitants of the “Abattoir” neighborhood in the Douala Four Municipality orchestrated the mob justice on the alleged bandit, eyewitnesses told National Telegraph.
An on-the-spot eyewitness said as the bandit attempted to escape, residents of the “Abattoir” neighborhood caught up with and beat him to death.
Security officials that arrived at the scene only came to carry the lifeless body away, a resident in the area said.
In a related story, the office of the 14th District Police station in Douala, located in Douala Four is now keeping an alleged bandit caught with a stolen car.
Security sources say investigations are ongoing. Douala is the economic hub of the central African country and crime is on the rise in almost all neighbourhoods according to security reports.
