Danger looms as government authorities in Cameroon’s restive North West Region consider officials of the Kumbo Diocese as enemies to the state, a source has told National Telegraph, adding that a secret meeting has been held with specific instructions to the military.
According to our source, authorities in the North West hit by the armed conflict have just finished a crucial meeting in which elements of the Cameroon military have been instructed to carry a special disguised attack on priests and parishioners on Wednesday April 19, 2019 in Kumbo, a war-torn town in the region.
Our source didn’t give any further details about whether the meeting was held at the Governor’s Office or at any of the security facilities in the North West but insist it was a secret meeting which ended with instructions to the army.
In the express plot, nineteen (19) soldiers have been selected to dress like members of the Anglophone militia in Kumbo and attack and shot at least a good number of priests and congregants on Wednesday April 17, 2019.
After the date April 17 caught the attention of National Telegraph as to why North West authorities specifically picked that date, we reached out to a Priest in the Diocese of Kumbo who elected to speak on grounds that his identity is concealed.
According to the Priest, the Diocese has a gigantic event on Wednesday April 17, 2019. Our Bishop, Bishop George Nkuo would be celebrating the Chrism Mass at the Saint Theresia’s Cathedral and most, if not all priests in our Diocese would be around, including our Christians”
The intention National Telegraph learned is for the disguised soldiers to appear like the militias so that a statement from the Church after the attack would have corroded the image of the rebels.
The two English-speaking regions began a strike action in October 2016. Government would later mismanaged it, turning it into a demand for a separate state called Ambazonia. Gun battles have ensued and the government has been accused of numerous Human Rights violation, including targeted killings.
The government of Cameroon has been battling to whiten its dark image in the International Scene and government conspirators think attacking priests with disguised military men would make people believe Ambazonian fighters are responsible for most atrocities.
Credible reports on Human Rights violation by the Cameroonian government from the US Ambassador to Cameroon, Peter Henry Barlerin, reputable Human Rights Lawyer Agbor Balla, the Human Rights Watch, Bishops of Mamfe and Kumbo, among others have greatly destroyed its image and creating avenues for urgent International Action.
