The Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis a congregation of Roman Catholic Religious’ sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis which was founded in Brixen, Italy, has elected a new Superior General, National Telegraph has been told.
Rev Sr Theodosia Baki from Shisong, Kumbo in Bui Division in Cameroon’s North West has been elected at the recent General Chapter elections, Friday July 26, 2019 to head the Tertiary Sisters of St Francis of Brixen.
Reports say as Superior General of this Congregation of Reverend Sisters spread throughout five continents of the world mothers, Theodosia Baki would report directly to the Vatican.
Rev Sr Theodosia Baki was also at different times teacher in St Augustine’s College Kumbo and Principal in Regina Pacis College, Nkar Jakiri and St Joseph’s College Bafut. Rev Sr Theodosia Baki was former Principal of St Bede’s Catholic College, Ashing Kom in Belo.
Rev Sr Alphonsa Kiven from same Division was also elected Councilor. This catholic congregation of the Tertiary Sisters of St Francis of Assisi of Brixen was founded by the Venerable Sr Maria Heuber on September 12, 1700, National Telegraph has been told.
The Tertiary Sisters of Brixen comprises three provinces covering their apostolate in the world; the Brixen, Bolivia and Cameroon provinces.
The Cameroon Province with mother house in Shisong was opened by five young Rev. Sisters from Brixen Italy led by Rev Sr Maria Camilla on April 8, 1935.
This province which now has more than 100 indigenous sisters has convents and institutions in Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, Central African Republic and Morocco.
The Tertiary Sisters of St Francis serve their respective communities or the church in the domains of Teaching, Health, Pastoral and Social Services, Orphanages, Office Management and Catering.
