Two families have been involved in serious fighting that kept an entire morgue in panic in Cameroon’s Muongo Division in Littoral, one of the country’s ten regions.
The Melong mortuary has served as the boxing ring for two families over a corpse, early Saturday August 3, 2019, a source has told National Telegraph.
According to information gathered, Maman Marceline Djuissi died at Bamougoum in Bafoussam III Sub-Division in Mifi Division, West Region of Cameroon but her corpse was transferred to Melong by her former husband without informing her family.
Reports say the family of the late Marceline came to remove the corpse from the mortuary when both families had a bitter clash in front of the facility.
The confrontation left several persons injured but thanks to the intervention of the gendarmes, the situation was brought under control, a source said.
Both families have been taken to the Melong Gendarmerie, a security agent in the precinct confirmed to National Telegraph.
Sources close to the morgue also said the corpse is still preserved at the morgue until a statement from law enforcement officers showing the conflict has been solved and persons to collect the corpse.
