The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump has said, Monday October 28, 2019, a military dog captured and killed the ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In the statement, Trump said that he could not share the name of the dog because the information is still classified. A US defense chief said that the dog suffered injuries from an electrocution, adding the dog is recovering.
We have declassified a picture of the wonderful dog (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi!, Trump said in an official Facebook post.
“We’re not releasing the name of the dog right now. The dog is still in theater. The dog, the K-9, the military working dog performed a tremendous service as they all do in a variety of situations, Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said.
He continued that the dog is “Slightly wounded and fully recovering but the dog is still in theater, returned to duty with its handler. So we are not going to release just yet photos or names of dogs or anything else.”
A senior State Department official told reporters Monday that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of Gen. Mazloum Abdi “played a key role” in the raid on the leader’s compound, adding that the US has been “in close touch” with SDF Commander Gen. Mazloum Abdi “about all aspects of what we’re doing.”
